About Course

Well, it’s not only hyaluronic acid that acts as a good primer for your makeup. All skin identical humectants are good ingredients for your makeup primer such as glycerin. The most well-known humectant is hyaluronic acid. Why?

Humectant is a substance that draws water into the skin. It can draw water from the air or

Humectants are ingredients that attract and bind water. In skin care, they draw water from the deeper layers of the skin to the outermost layer. If air humidity is higher than 70% Trusted Source, they also draw water from the surrounding environment to the skin.

First, because we want to focus on how to prepare every skin layer in a well-shaped to secure the foundation and loose powder on top of it. The key is in skin identical humectant that will act as the magnet of foundation and loose powder.

As I’ve mentioned before, hyaluronic acid is the most well-known skin identical humectant. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that acts as water binding. It has a unique capacity to hold 1.000 times its weight in water. And hyaluronic acid is naturally found in our dermis layer. Since the dermis layer contains 75% of 70% water in our skin, we add hyaluronic acid into our skin preparation for makeup. Because a well-hydrated skin is a good canvas for makeup complexion

So we will supply the ingredients in skin care based on naturally found at every skin layer. Hyaluronic acid is for dermis, and glycerin is for epidermis.

The next question is, in what form of skin care do we apply those ingredients properly?

Because the dermis is 70% water, the best way to retain those of 70% water is by applying hyaluronic acid in low molecular weight. Why should HA be in low molecular form? Low molecular weight of HA can penetrate into the dermis layer while high molecular weight of HA sits on top of epidermis by forming a film. Thus, high molecular weight of HA is easily washed off so that no real long-term effect occurs. It’s better off using low molecular weight of HA in your skin preparation rather than the high one.
